        There are many diseases that can affect a pregnancy and some of them are rather dangerous. Well, rest assured that cystitis while pregnant is not one of those very serious and health - threatening issues. However, this does not mean that cystitis while pregnant is not annoying and, in some circumstances, even embarrassing. The thing is that the probability of a woman to be affected by cystitis while pregnant is much more elevated then the probability of the same woman suffering from cystitis in more normal conditions.

        This might seem like a terrible contradiction. After all, it is well known that pregnant women have better immune systems then most professional athletes out there. All that might be true, but pregnancy hormones are a tricky thing to mess with: for one, they might help a woman to resist all sorts of illnesses, but their side effects are a bit strange. For example, pregnancy hormones dilate the body's cavities, to allow a much larger quantity of substances to flow through. This bodes well for blood flow, but when the urinary tract is dilated, bacteria can penetrate it so much easier. Thus, cystitis while pregnant is such a common disease.

       The real problem is that pregnant women should not take any sort of medication that could affect the fetus. This is why special antibiotics have been developed. Nowadays, treating cystitis in pregnant women is not that much of an issue.
