Cystitis in dogs

Cystitis in dogs is not a disease that can or should be ignored. See, most people believe that cystitis in dogs is not really a problem or that it goes away all on its own. That could not be further from the truth. Cystitis in dogs is very similar to cystitis in humans: basically, an inflammation of the tissue that surrounds the bladder, usually caused by a bacteria.

It is not difficult to imagine how bacteria could enter the dogs' urethra, since canines tend to spend most of their time outside the house. The cystitis in dogs symptoms are not all that different from the ones that humans manifest. For example, the easiest to recognize for a dog owner is pain or difficulty urinating. If your normally quiet and happy puppy suddenly starts whining whenever it urinates, you should visit the veterinarian as soon as possible.

The treatment for cystitis in dogs is prescribed only after a complete set of tests, but it does not consist of something special. In general, the physician will judge the severity of the infection and will prescribe antibiotics and some diuretics, to allow the urinary tract to be cleansed more easily. It might take a few weeks, but your puppy will be just fine.
